Chelsea Negotiates Transfer for Rayo Vallecano's Chavarria

Chelsea FC has initiated talks with Rayo Vallecano regarding the potential transfer of left-back Pep Chavarria, who is 28 years old. This move comes after the recent exit of Marc Cucurella, who completed a £52 million transfer to Real Madrid.

Chavarria, who has a four-year contract with Rayo Vallecano, made 44 appearances across all competitions last season and played a significant role in the team's run to the UEFA Conference League and their eighth-place finish in La Liga. Chelsea's management, under the new coach Xabi Alonso, aims to fill the gap left by Cucurella's departure with Chavarria, who is capable of playing both left-back and wing-back positions.

The club has already secured Marco Palestra from Atalanta and is looking to finalize Chavarria's signing as their second acquisition during Alonso's era, excluding any pre-arranged deals made prior to his appointment.
