Comrade Segun Osoba, Icon of Nigerian Socialism, Dies

Comrade Segun Osoba has passed away, remembered as a significant figure in Nigeria's political landscape and a staunch opponent of military dictatorship from 1966 to 1999. He was a co-author of the 1976 Minor Constitutional Report alongside Yusuf Bala Usman and was recognized for his contributions to the development of socialist thought in Nigeria.

Osoba was trained in the Soviet Union and was involved in various educational institutions, including the University of Ibadan and the University of Maiduguri. His work included mentoring young comrades and engaging in revolutionary missions.

He was part of a group of Marxist scholars sent to China in 1976 to study the educational system, likely to guide Nigeria's military regimes. Osoba's life was characterized by a commitment to anti-imperialist and revolutionary ideals, and he is celebrated as a hero among African socialist ancestors.
