Troops Eliminate Two Terrorist Commanders in Katsina

On August 31, troops from the Joint Task Force North West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, killed two senior commanders of a terrorist group in Matazu Local Government Area, Katsina State. The commanders, identified as Hamisu, also known as Mamiyo, and Umar Bocho, were eliminated during an intelligence-led operation near Kogo Village.

Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, reported that Mamiyo was a notorious gunrunner and the second-in-command to Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, the group's leader, who managed to escape with gunshot wounds. The military described the operation as a significant blow to the terrorist network, aiming to degrade its operational capabilities and disrupt its criminal activities.

Local residents expressed relief from the group's activities, which had included abductions and livestock rustling. The military urged the community to report anyone seeking treatment for gunshot wounds and confirmed ongoing operations to track Filani and eliminate remaining threats.
