Soldiers Neutralize Terrorist in Katsina, Seize Weapons

On August 29, 2026, troops of the Joint Task Force North West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, conducted clearance operations in Matazu Local Government Area, Katsina State. During these operations, they encountered armed terrorists and responded with superior firepower, leading to the neutralization of a key terrorist lieutenant known as Smally, who was affiliated with notorious terrorist leader Kachalla Muhammadu Filani.

The troops recovered significant military assets, including three machine guns, two AK-47 rifles, 11 magazines, 180 rounds of ammunition, and six motorcycles used by the terrorists. Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, stated that this operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restore peace and security in affected communities.

The troops remain committed to denying terrorists freedom of action and ensuring lasting peace in the region.
