Troops Arrest 13 in Boko Haram Logistics Operation

On April 2, 2023, troops from the Nigerian Army's Bravo Company of the 159 Battalion conducted a routine stop-and-search operation in the Kanama area of Borno State, leading to the arrest of 13 suspects linked to Boko Haram's logistics network. The operation occurred around 7:00 PM when the troops intercepted a Toyota pickup vehicle heading towards Dekwa.

Among the suspects were 12 men and one woman. Preliminary findings revealed that two male suspects had gunshot wounds, suggesting they were injured during a previous engagement with troops along the Usmadi axis, where they were reportedly moving supplies for Boko Haram fighters.

Items recovered from the suspects included eight torchlights and mobile phones, which are expected to aid further investigations. The 13 suspects and their vehicle are currently in military custody and are expected to be handed over to higher authorities for further action.
