Troops Neutralize Bandits in Sokoto State Operation

On June 4, troops from the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army conducted a successful operation named "Fansan Yamma" in Sokoto State, targeting bandits and dismantling their enclaves. The operation took place around Dangulbi and Kurawa villages in the Tureta Local Government Area, near the border with Zamfara State.

Security sources disclosed that the troops engaged in fierce gun battles with the bandits, resulting in the deaths of several individuals, including a suspected kingpin. Others escaped with gunshot wounds into nearby forests.

The operation also led to the recovery of weapons and motorcycles. The military personnel displayed professional courage, averting potential tragedies during the operation.

The efforts were part of a coordinated offensive involving local vigilantes and other security agencies, aimed at maintaining pressure on criminal elements in the region. Special adviser to the governor on security matters, retired Colonel Ahmad Usman, commended the operation's success.
