Nigerian Troops Rescue Seven Kidnap Victims in Katsina

On September 21, 2026, troops from Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma successfully rescued seven kidnapped victims along the Daye–Malumfashi road in the Danmusa local government area of Katsina State. The Nigerian Army reported that they responded to a distress call about an attack on a commercial vehicle traveling from Kaduna to Katsina.

The troops' rapid arrival forced the kidnappers to abandon their captives and flee. The rescued individuals included six female students from the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, and one male commercial driver, all of whom were unharmed.

Following their rescue, the victims underwent preliminary security profiling and medical evaluations before being handed over to designated officials for their safe reunion with families and school authorities. Additionally, a large herd of rustled cattle was recovered in Sokoto State during the operation.
