Troops Rescue 25 Kidnap Victims in Northwest Nigeria

On September 3, 2026, troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully rescued 25 kidnapped victims during operations in Katsina and Zamfara states. In Katsina State, Sector 1 troops conducted a night patrol along Kwanar Kura in Sabuwa Local Government Area, rescuing two victims who had been abducted along the Dandume–Damari Road.

The operation involved engaging terrorists with overwhelming firepower, prompting their retreat into nearby bushes. In a separate operation in Zamfara State, Sector 2 troops rescued 23 abducted civilians, including three males and 20 females, on the outskirts of Wuya Town in Anka Local Government Area.

These victims had been held captive for approximately three weeks after being abducted from Gummi Local Government Area. Following their rescue, the victims were evacuated for medical attention and further debriefing.

The operations reflect the ongoing commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protect civilians and disrupt terrorist activities in the region.
