Troops Rescue 6 Kidnap Victims, Recover ₦800,000 in Katsina

On August 22, 2026, soldiers from the Joint Task Force North West, operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully rescued six kidnapped victims in Dandume Local Government Area, Katsina. The operation commenced after troops received a distress call about a vehicle being stopped by terrorists along the Dandume–Sheme Road.

Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force North West, reported that the soldiers engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, compelling them to abandon the captives and flee into the bush. All six victims were rescued unharmed, and the troops recovered ₦800,000 that had been taken from the victims.

The cash and the vehicle were returned to the victims in the presence of the Divisional Officer of Dandume. The day prior, on August 21, 2026, the same troops conducted a separate operation in Kankara Local Government Area, where they engaged terrorists and recovered a motorcycle.

Lieutenant Colonel Danja reaffirmed the Joint Task Force's commitment to aggressive patrols and offensive operations in the region.
