Troops Rescue 92 Civilians from Boko Haram in Borno

On Saturday, troops from the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai successfully rescued 92 civilians who had been abducted by Boko Haram along the Buratai-Kamuya road in Biu Local Government Area, Borno State. The operation was led by Lt.

Col. Sani Uba, commander of the 135 Special Forces Battalion.

During the rescue, the troops recovered eight vehicles and detonated three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by the insurgents as they attempted to ambush the military. The troops pursued the fleeing insurgents for approximately five kilometers beyond the Mangari area, engaging them in combat.

The operation resulted in no casualties for the military personnel or equipment. Following the rescue, the civilians were provided with immediate welfare support and escorted to Damaturu in Yobe State to continue their journey.

The military emphasized its capability to respond swiftly to insurgent attempts to kidnap civilians in the northeast.
