Troops Rescue 92 Kidnap Victims in Borno State

Troops from the Joint Task Force North East successfully rescued 92 individuals who had been kidnapped, including 52 men, 33 women, and seven children, during an operation in Borno State. The operation took place along the Buratai-Kamuya road in the Biu Local Government Area, following intelligence gathered through military surveillance.

Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba disclosed that the 135 Special Forces Battalion was deployed to detect terrorist forces attempting to ambush civilian motorists. Upon discovery, the battalion activated its quick reaction force, which was reinforced by the 27 Task Force Brigade.

The troops engaged the terrorists, compelling them to abandon their captives and flee. During the operation, three improvised explosive devices were identified and neutralized by an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team.

The operation resulted in no casualties among military personnel, and the rescued civilians were provided with immediate welfare assistance before being escorted safely to Damaturu.
