Troops Rescue Kidnap Victims, Seize Ammunition in Kogi

On May 6, 2026, troops from the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army executed Operation Tiger Paw II in Kogi State, successfully rescuing eight individuals who had been kidnapped. The rescued victims included five boys, two girls, and two adult females, believed to be the wives of the orphanage proprietor at Daarul Kitab Islam Orphanage.

Following their rescue, the victims were promptly evacuated to a medical center for first aid and were reported to be in stable condition. Additionally, the troops intercepted a suspect identified as Yahaya Umar along the Obajana-Lokoja road, who was involved in transporting arms and ammunition for terrorist elements.

The operation led to the seizure of 500 rounds of 7.62mm NATO belt ammunition concealed in a bag. Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect was part of a logistics operation aimed at delivering arms across the North Central region of Nigeria.
