Troops Rescue Amina Abubakar in Katsina Operation

Troops from the Nigerian Army conducted a successful rescue operation for Amina Abubakar, the widow of late Maj Gen Rabe Abubakar, who was abducted alongside her husband by bandits in Katsina State several weeks prior. The Defence Headquarters announced the rescue on a Monday, stating that the operation was part of the intensified search efforts under Operation Fansan Yamma.

The troops made contact with the kidnappers in Tunga Village, leading to a confrontation where bandits were shot and subsequently fled. Amina Abubakar was rescued and immediately evacuated for medical treatment at a military hospital, where she is currently receiving care.

Maj Gen Samaila Uba, the military spokesperson, assured that the armed forces are committed to providing necessary support to Amina and her family during this difficult time. The operation, which is part of a broader offensive against banditry in the region, aims to apprehend those responsible for the abduction and to improve security in Katsina State.
