Widow of Late General Rabe Abubakar Remains Captive

Hajiya Amina Abubakar, the widow of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar, has been held captive since their abduction on May 30, 2026, along the Marabar Musawa-Kafinsoli road in Matazu Local Government Area, Katsina State. Following the announcement of Rabe Abubakar's death, a video surfaced showing Amina appealing for intervention from the Katsina State government and local leaders.

Her captors, led by bandit leader Kachalla Muhammad, have issued demands for the release of three detained individuals and the return of livestock allegedly seized during security operations. Despite initial promises for her release, Kachalla changed his mind following the arrest of individuals connected to his group.

The Katsina State government has expressed deep sorrow over Rabe Abubakar's death, attributing it to complications related to diabetes and hypertension. Security agencies have not provided new details on efforts to rescue Amina, as the region continues to face severe insecurity and attacks.
