Katsina Government Intensifies Rescue for Kidnapped General

The Katsina State Government is ramping up efforts to secure the release of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar and his wife, who were kidnapped along the Matazu axis. Governor Dikko Radda expressed optimism about their safe return, stating that the rescue operation is at an advanced stage.

The abduction, which occurred near Zakim Baur village, is believed to have been a deliberate act targeting the retired military officer, as indicated by preliminary investigations. The governor's statement emphasized the involvement of organized criminal groups and the need for community cooperation in providing information on suspicious activities.

The abductors have reportedly demanded the release of three detained fighters and livestock in exchange for the couple's freedom. The couple was ambushed while traveling with a driver, who managed to escape despite sustaining injuries.

The Katsina State Government remains committed to combating banditry and ensuring the safe return of the victims.
