Operation Fansan Yamma Dismantles Lakurawa Camps in Sokoto

On October 15, troops from Operation Fansan Yamma conducted a successful clearance operation in Waria Forest, located in the Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State. During this operation, they neutralised several Lakurawa terrorists and destroyed their camps.
Lt Col Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West, reported that the troops advanced through identified terrorist hideouts around Alela, Bilange, and Kandam villages before engaging the armed group in a firefight. The superior firepower of the troops forced the terrorists to abandon their positions and flee deeper into the forest.
The operation resulted in the recovery of weapons and five motorcycles. Danja stated that the troops would maintain their operational presence in the area to deny terrorists freedom of movement and prevent them from using the forest as a haven.
He commended the troops for their efforts and urged local residents to provide timely information about suspicious activities.
