Trump Envoy Proposes Italy Replace Iran in World Cup

Paolo Zampolli, a U.S. special envoy and businessman, has suggested that Italy should replace Iran in the World Cup due to financial issues and the ongoing conflict involving Iran and Israel. Zampolli expressed his desire to see Italy, a four-time World Cup champion, in the tournament hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, despite Italy's recent failure to qualify after losing a playoff match against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He has urged FIFA President Gianni Infantino to consider this change, especially given the uncertainty surrounding Iran's participation due to the war. Zampolli's comments come in light of a report confirming that negotiations are ongoing regarding Iran's participation in the World Cup, with FIFA having previously indicated that Iran would play in the tournament.

Zampolli, who has connections to Donald Trump and introduced him to his wife Melania, emphasized the significance of Italy's football pedigree in justifying their inclusion.
