Trump Hosts Messi and Inter Miami at White House Ceremony

On December 6, 2023, U.S. President Donald Trump hosted Lionel Messi and Inter Miami CF at the White House to honor their MLS Cup triumph.

Messi attended the ceremony alongside Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas and head coach Javier Mascherano. During the event, Trump received a signature pink soccer ball and an Inter Miami jersey.

This visit marked Messi's first trip to the White House with Inter Miami, which he joined in July 2023. Trump praised Messi as a football icon and expressed the unique privilege of welcoming him, noting that no American president had previously had the chance to do so.

Messi's son was excited to meet the Argentine star, who is a big fan of both Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Inter Miami secured the MLS Cup title by defeating Vancouver Whitecaps FC 3-1.

Messi was also recognized as the league's Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive season. Several players from Inter Miami attended the ceremony, and former baseball star Alex Rodriguez spoke at the event.
