Tunisia Sacks Coach Sabri Lamouchi After World Cup Loss

The Tunisian Football Federation announced the dismissal of coach Sabri Lamouchi after the national team suffered a significant 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening match of the World Cup. Lamouchi, who is 54 years old, became the first coach in World Cup history to be sacked after just one game.

He had been in charge since January and had secured only one victory out of five matches, including a 1-0 win against Haiti. The federation's president, Moez Nassari, confirmed the appointment of Frenchman Hervé Renard as Lamouchi's successor.

Renard, who previously guided Saudi Arabia to a surprising victory against eventual World Cup winners Argentina in Qatar, will lead the Tunisian national team until the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup. Tunisia faces a challenging task ahead as they prepare for their next group match against Japan.
