Turaki at Supreme Court for PDP Leadership Dispute

Turaki arrived at the Supreme Court as the court prepares to deliver a judgment on the leadership dispute within the People's Democratic Party (PDP). The case, identified as appeal number SC CV 166/2026, seeks to overturn a prior court appeal judgment that nullified the party's leadership exercise, which was alleged to have violated an existing court order.

Concurrently, there is a related matter involving the African Democratic Congress (ADC), with appeal number SC CV 180/2026, which is also pending resolution. The Supreme Court's judgment is anticipated to significantly shape the leadership structure of the opposition party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set a deadline of May 10 for political parties to submit their membership registers. The presidential and national assembly elections are scheduled for January 16, 2027, while the governorship and state assembly elections will take place on February 6, 2027.
