Daura Rejects ADC Senatorial Ticket, Seeks Governorship

Lawal Musa Daura has rejected the senatorial district ticket assigned to him by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Katsina State, urging the party to initiate a fresh process to determine its governorship candidate. Daura, a former Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), maintains his intention to run for governor, despite the party's consensus arrangement that produced Ahm Babba Kaita as the ADC candidate.

During a meeting to garner support, Daura emphasized the need for capable leadership to address the growing insecurity and economic challenges in Katsina State. He expressed his commitment to rescuing the state and its people, citing his experience and qualifications as essential for effective governance.

Daura also called for the party leadership to either conduct a fresh consensus process or accept stakeholder organizations' indirect primary elections in line with the electoral act, urging patience and calm among party members as they work towards resolving the dispute.
