ADC Faces Leadership Crisis Ahead of Katsina Elections

The ADC is currently embroiled in a leadership crisis in Katsina State, stemming from internal struggles for power and legitimacy. A faction led by Musa Wamba and Lawal Tukur Batagarawa has claimed legitimacy over the state executive, resulting in a court case that was later dismissed.

This internal conflict has created a parallel party structure and deepened divisions, leading to separate governorship candidacies. Salisu Lawal Uli has emerged as the party's candidate amid ongoing disputes over the nomination process, which he claims followed the party's constitutional guidelines.

However, another faction, led by Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, has rejected the outcome, arguing that the process lacked transparency and inclusivity. Inuwa's influence is significant due to his extensive grassroots network in Katsina.

The situation has escalated to the point where legal intervention may be sought, particularly concerning the candidacy of Ahmad Babba Kaita, who was initially intended to unify the party. The ongoing disputes threaten the ADC's credibility as a viable opposition force ahead of the 2027 elections.
