Two Children Drown in Edo Floodwater Incident

On Sunday, a tragic incident occurred in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area, Edo State, where two children drowned in floodwater collected at a site on Erediauwa Street off Sapele Road in Benin City. Reports indicate that four children were playing in the area when they slipped into the muddy water.

Two of the children were pulled out lifeless and rushed to a nearby hospital for resuscitation. The Edo State Police Command spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the incident and stated that a rescue team was promptly dispatched upon receiving the report.

The two other children involved were also taken to the hospital for treatment. This incident underscores the dangers that flood-prone areas pose, particularly for children who are left unsupervised.
