Fire Tragedy Claims Lives of Two Children in Ondo

On March 18, 2026, a tragic fire occurred at No. 1 Olaribigb Street, Zion Area, Okitipupa Local Government Area, Ondo State, resulting in the deaths of two young girls, Queen Ohwo, aged 6, and Everlyn Ohwo, aged 4, who were the daughters of Mr. Ohwo Peter.

The Ondo State Police Command, represented by DSP Abayomi Jimoh, announced that a full-scale investigation has commenced to ascertain the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the fire. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by negligence during cooking activities.

The Commissioner of Police, Adebowal Lawal, has ordered a thorough and discreet investigation and instructed the division police office to cordon off the scene and obtain statements from relevant witnesses, in collaboration with the Federal Fire Service. The police expressed condolences to the bereaved family and urged the public to exercise caution regarding fire safety, especially when children are present.
