Firefighters Hospitalized in Lagos Building Blaze

On Sunday, June 19, 2023, a fire broke out at a three-storey residential building located at No 11 Ademola Taiwo Street, Ketu Ikosi, Lagos State, at 6:31 AM. The fire affected the topmost floor of the building, and the Lagos State Fire Rescue Service, led by Olawal Afolabi, responded swiftly to control the inferno and prevent it from spreading to adjacent properties.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the fire was triggered by an electrical surge from a prepaid meter located at the front section of the building. During the firefighting operations, two personnel from the Lagos State Fire Rescue Service collapsed and were promptly evacuated to a trauma center for medical attention.

Fortunately, no civilian casualties or injuries were reported. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), under the direction of Olufemi Ok Osanyintolu, emphasized the importance of regular inspections and maintenance of electrical installations to prevent such incidents.
