Two Dead, Ten Houses Burned in Kwara Community Clash

On Saturday, a violent clash in Ilesha Baruba, Baruten Local Government Area, Kwara State, resulted in the deaths of two individuals and the destruction of ten houses. The conflict began with an altercation involving Islamic scholar Alhaji Moham Ilyasu and an unidentified Fulani man, during which Ilyasu sustained severe machete injuries.

He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Following his death, a mob of youths stormed the hospital, seized Ilyasu's body, and set it ablaze, refusing to allow the law to take its course.

The violence escalated as the mob allegedly attacked passersby and set fire to ten houses belonging to members of the Fulani community, including residences of Alhaji Hassan. The Kwara State Police Command, through spokesperson Adetoun Ejir Adeyemi, condemned the incident as a criminal act and announced that investigations have begun, with warnings of arrests and prosecutions for those involved.
