Two Ondo Varsity Students Drown at Hotel Swimming Pool During Matriculation Party

Two students from Adekunle Ajasin University in Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, tragically drowned at a hotel swimming pool during a party organized for newly matriculated students. The victims, Oluder Opeyemi, 22, and Adegbola Bless, 19, attended the party hosted by the university community.

The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident, with the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, stating that the incident was first reported at the Akungba Division Police Station. Bless was found unconscious in the pool but regained consciousness briefly before being reported dead.

Oluder Opeyemi was later discovered unconscious in the pool and was rushed to the State Hospital in Ikar Akoko, where he was confirmed dead. The police have commenced an investigation, questioning the hotel and pool managers.

The bodies were deposited at the State Hospital morgue for autopsy.
