Tragic Drowning Incident: Two Ondo Varsity Students Die in Hotel Pool

Two students from Adekunle Ajasin University in Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, tragically drowned in a hotel swimming pool during a party for newly matriculated students. The victims were identified as Oluder Opeyemi, 22, and Adegbola Bless, 19.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident, stating that Bless was initially found unconscious and rescued, but later passed away. Opeyemi was discovered unconscious in the pool and was rushed to the State Hospital in Ikar Akoko, where he was pronounced dead.

The police have launched an investigation, with the hotel pool manager being questioned as part of the preliminary inquiry. The deceased have been deposited at the state hospital's morgue for autopsy, while investigations continue to determine the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
