Two Kano youths drown while fleeing suspected thief

On Friday at 4:04 PM, two 18-year-old youths, Sadiq Isyaku and Auwal Isyaku, drowned in an open water body in Kumbotso Local Government Area, Kano State. The Kano State Fire Service, represented by spokesperson Saminu Abdullahi, reported that they received an emergency call regarding the incident.

Upon arrival, the rescue team discovered the victims had fallen into the water while trying to escape from a suspected phone snatcher. They were retrieved unconscious and later confirmed dead, with their bodies handed over to their father, Ibrahim Shehu, from Unguwa Uku Quarter.

Additionally, a separate incident occurred on Monday at 7:12 PM, where a 40-year-old man named Shitu Balarab fell in the Durumin Zungura area of Kano City but was successfully rescued alive by the fire service. The Kano State Fire Service extended condolences to the families affected and urged residents to take precautionary measures to prevent similar tragedies.
