UAE Launches 10-Year Golden Visa for Skilled Foreigners

The UAE government has introduced a Golden Visa program that allows foreign nationals in certain professions to reside in the country for up to ten years. This initiative targets individuals with exceptional talents or rare specializations, covering fields such as medicine, science, invention, culture, arts, leadership, sports, academic research, and engineering.

Eligible professionals include doctors, scientists, inventors, corporate executives, professional athletes, and PhD holders. Each profession has distinct requirements, such as recommendations from recognized institutions, practical experience, or accredited educational degrees.

The Golden Visa offers greater stability compared to standard UAE residence permits, which are typically linked to employment contracts and require renewal every two to three years. This program is particularly appealing to African professionals, including Nigerians, who are part of the ongoing migration trend to the UAE, as many of them are qualified in the relevant fields.
