UAE Outlines Residency Visa Requirements for Non-Workers

The United Arab Emirates has detailed the necessary documents for individuals applying for a residency visa through the visitor or non-employment route. This applies to various categories, including property owners, retirees, students, and family members of existing residents.

All applicants must present a valid passport, a personal photograph, and a lease agreement for their residence in the UAE. Additional documents vary by category: property owners need a certificate confirming property ownership, retirees must provide a certificate of at least 15 years of service or a birth certificate proving they are over 55, and family members must show proof of kinship.

Those affiliated with academic or research institutions must submit a certificate from the relevant educational body. Nationals from Afghanistan, Iran, and Iraq have an extra requirement of submitting a copy of their personal identification document.

The UAE has expanded its visa options for long-term residents and investors, making non-employment residency pathways more relevant.
