UBA Launches Renovated UNILAG Branch and Innovation Hub

UBA Plc inaugurated its renovated branch and an innovation hub at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) on an unspecified date. The innovation hub aims to drive ideas and research, catering to approximately 80,000 customers within the branch.

Oliv Alawuba, Group Managing Director of UBA, emphasized the importance of partnerships between industry and academia for national prosperity. The bank's relationship with UNILAG dates back to 1969 when it first opened a branch at the university.

UBA announced a ₦60 million endowment for a professorial chair in financial research, intended to support high-level financial research and deepen collaboration between the bank and the university. Professor Folasade Ogunsola, Vice Chancellor of UNILAG, affirmed the significance of enduring partnerships for national development.

Professor Adedoyin Lawal, who will occupy the chair, highlighted the focus on developing a fintech curriculum to prepare students for future challenges in the financial sector.
