Kaduna Pensioners Hope Renewed by Uba Sani's Payment Approval

Kaduna pensioners have expressed renewed hope following Governor Uba Sani's recent approval of ₦4.289 billion for the payment of retired civil servants and families of deceased workers across the state and local government services. This approval covers payments under the contributory pension scheme and includes benefits from the defined benefit scheme and gratuitous death benefits.

A total of 1,637 beneficiaries from the contributory pension scheme will receive ₦3.915 billion, with 1,392 pensioners and 245 beneficiaries set to receive ₦374 million. The pension union noted that this timely intervention has brought great relief and restored faith in the government.

However, they also reminded Governor Uba Sani of outstanding pension liabilities that have yet to be addressed, particularly for the elderly. The letter, dated April 16, 2026, expressed confidence in the governor's ability to clear these liabilities, given his good track record.

Since assuming office, Governor Uba Sani has paid a cumulative sum of ₦17.796 billion in pension benefits.
