Uba Sani Celebrates Kaduna Workers, Announces Light Rail Project

On Friday, during a celebration at Murtala Square, Kaduna Governor Uba Sani commended the state's workers, acknowledging their partnership in progress. He announced the approval of a light rail project by President Bola Tinubu, which aims to enhance transportation and complement existing bus services.

The governor recognized the economic pressures faced by workers due to subsidy reforms and introduced a free CNG bus service to benefit 1.5 million citizens, saving an estimated ₦1.4 billion in transport expenses. He also addressed past challenges affecting public service delivery and reiterated the government's commitment to welfare, including a recent ₦4.289 billion payment for pension gratuities and death benefits.

Sani outlined plans for infrastructure development, including health sector upgrades, classroom construction, and road projects to facilitate trade. NLC Chairman Ayuba Magaji Suleiman praised the governor's administration for resuming the free transport scheme and addressing pension payments totaling ₦17.7 billion.
