Uba Sani Supports Kaduna Innovators with N30 Million Grant

Governor Uba Sani has redeemed his pledge of N30 million to support young innovators in Kaduna by providing direct financial assistance to advance projects in technology, scientific research, and innovation. The grant was announced at the 2026 International Youth Day Conference on September 4 and the cheques were presented on September 16 at the Ministry of Youth Development.

Beneficiaries included a team of computer engineering students from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, who developed a smart walking aid for visually impaired persons, and Al-Amin Mohammed Idris and Shamsudeen Jibril, winners of the National Board for Technology Incubation NEXTGEN Challenge. Fauziyya Muhammad Auwal from Kaduna State University, who is Nigeria’s first female analogue astronaut, also received support.

Eight microchip designers were funded under the Kaduna State Human Capital Development Initiative. Barrister Gloria Ibrahim, the Commissioner for Youth Development, emphasized the administration's commitment to youth empowerment, while Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, described the intervention as an investment in the future of the beneficiaries.
