Uba Sani Warns Journalists About Politicians as Activists

Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna State, issued a warning to journalists regarding politicians who present themselves as activists, cautioning that such individuals may undermine democracy when their policies do not align with public interest. Speaking at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House during a Ramadan fast-breaking event, Sani urged the press to remain vigilant, highlighting the critical role journalists play in the fight for democracy.

He recalled the struggles faced by civil rights activists and the sacrifices made by journalists who have fought for democratic ideals. Sani criticized politicians for focusing on ethnic and religious issues rather than addressing pressing matters such as healthcare, education, and poverty.

He noted that during election campaigns, these politicians exploit divisions instead of tackling issues that affect all Nigerians. Furthermore, Sani pointed out that in his tenure, there has been significant development across 23 local governments in Kaduna, including the renovation of schools and hospitals, emphasizing transparency and the administration's commitment to education.
