UEFA and Others Accuse Infantino of Deception in FIFA

UEFA, CONCACAF, and the Asian Football Confederation issued an open letter accusing FIFA President Gianni Infantino of breaking trust “through deception.” The controversy centers on the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) proposal, which aimed to create a new company to manage commercial and ticketing rights for FIFA competitions, including the World Cups, with 21% allocated to a private investment firm. The proposal faced widespread criticism, leading to its cancellation, with UEFA threatening to boycott FIFA competitions.

The letter emphasized that leadership in football is a duty of service, not a power possession. While not naming Infantino directly, sources indicated the letter presents an opportunity for him to resign with dignity.

FIFA responded by criticizing efforts to undermine the organization and Infantino. The confederations also condemned Infantino's exclusion of FIFA Council Members from a recent meeting in Rabat, Morocco.

They demanded a fully independent review of FIFA's governance regarding the FFE proposal, which they deemed a fundamental breach of trust.
