Uefa and Concacaf Criticize FIFA Leadership Under Infantino

Uefa and Concacaf publicly criticized FIFA's leadership under Gianni Infantino following his decision to withdraw a proposal to sell stakes in FIFA competitions to private investors. Uefa described the withdrawal as a “victory for the whole game” and accused Infantino of failing to deliver on promises made during his 2016 presidential campaign.

Uefa's statement highlighted that Infantino had lost the confidence of Uefa and many other members of the football community. Concacaf echoed these sentiments, stating that the proposals reflected poor governance and leadership, and called for a full review of Infantino's leadership.

The pressure on Infantino is mounting as he seeks re-election for a fourth term at the FIFA Congress scheduled for March. UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham became the first major country leader to call for Infantino's resignation, stating that FIFA made “the right decision” by dropping the investment plans.
