UEFA Fines Real Madrid €15,000 for Fan's Nazi Salute

UEFA has imposed a fine of €15,000 (approximately $17,364) on Real Madrid after a fan was seen performing a Nazi salute during the UEFA Champions League playoff second leg match against Benfica last week. The European football governing body announced the sanction on Friday, and Real Madrid is also facing a partial closure of the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

The club had previously requested its disciplinary committee to begin immediate expulsion procedures against the identified member who performed the gesture, which was captured and broadcast. UEFA's order includes a partial closure of 500 seats in the lower south stand of the stadium for the next match, although this punishment is suspended for one year.

Real Madrid won the match 2-1, advancing to the round of 16 with a 3-1 aggregate victory, where they will face Manchester City in the next round of the competition.
