UEFA and Concacaf Reject FIFA's Controversial Proposal

UEFA, led by Aleksander Čeferin, announced a loss of confidence in FIFA leadership due to Gianni Infantino's plan to establish the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), intended to manage competition finances and allow external entities to acquire minority stakes. Infantino claimed this initiative would inject an additional $40 million into member confederations.

However, it faced immediate opposition from regional bodies, prompting FIFA to retract the proposal. UEFA accused Infantino of violating core promises made during his 2016 election regarding transparency and proper use of FIFA's cash reserves, criticizing the deal as opaque and lacking transparency.

UEFA termed the withdrawal a “victory for the whole game” but acknowledged the ongoing challenge of rebuilding trust in FIFA. Similarly, Concacaf praised its 41 member associations for their unity in opposing the proposal, condemning the secrecy surrounding it and calling for a comprehensive reckoning with FIFA's leadership.
