Ugandan Opposition Leader Bobi Wine Forcefully Taken by Army Amid Election Violence

Ugandan opposition leader Bobi Wine, real name Robert Kyagulanyi, was forcibly removed from his home by the army via a military helicopter just 24 hours after the general election marred by violence and a nationwide internet shutdown. President Yoweri Museveni seeks to extend his nearly four-decade rule, with Bobi Wine being a prominent challenger.

The National Unity Platform (NUP) announced that soldiers landed a helicopter inside Wine's compound and took him away to an unknown location. The election saw Museveni leading in the vote count, while Wine trailed behind.

The incident has drawn criticism from human rights groups and international observers.
