UK Lists 34 Countries Eligible for ETA from April 2025

The United Kingdom government has officially released a list of 34 countries whose nationals will be eligible to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) effective from April 2, 2025. This initiative is part of the UK's Immigration Rules and aims to modernize border control following the country's departure from the European Union.

The ETA is a digital travel authorisation linked to a traveller's passport, permitting eligible nationals to visit the UK for tourism, short trips, or transit without requiring a full visa. However, it does not allow holders to live or work in the UK permanently.

Notably, the list primarily includes nations from Europe, while citizens from countries in Africa, Asia, and most of the Americas, such as Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa, will still need to apply through standard UK visa channels.
