UK Teen Sentenced to Life for Murder Over Snapchat Dispute

Emmanuel Popoola, a UK-based Nigerian teenager, and his accomplice Tayvon Etefia were sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of 18-year-old Keanu Harker. The sentencing occurred on July 10, 2025, following a six-week trial, with both receiving a minimum term of 28 years.

The incident took place on June 26, 2025, when Harker was shot dead in Enfield after a dispute arose from comments made in a Snapchat group chat. The London Metropolitan Police reported that Popoola and Etefia tracked Harker using an electric bike before the shooting.

The attack was described as a cowardly act of disproportionate violence, triggered by Popoola's anger over comments mocking his alleged lack of mobile data. Following the murder, Popoola fled to France but was arrested at St.

Pancras International Station in London just minutes after departing for Paris. He was subsequently extradited to the UK to face trial.

The victim's family expressed that no prison sentence could alleviate their pain from the loss.
