UK Exempts 18 Countries from English Test for Sport Visa

The United Kingdom has published an official list of 18 countries whose citizens are exempt from the English language test when applying for the International Sportsperson visa. According to the UK government, nationals from these countries do not need to prove their English proficiency.

The exempt countries include Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, The British Overseas Territories, Canada, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Malta, New Zealand, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago. The list is predominantly made up of Caribbean nations, along with a few from North America and the Pacific.

Importantly, no African nations are represented, meaning that sportspersons from countries such as Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa must still fulfill the English language requirement as part of their visa application process. Those who do not qualify for the exemption are required to demonstrate their English proficiency through an approved test or qualification.
