UK Exempts 19 Countries from English Test for Student Visas

The UK government has published a list of 19 countries and territories whose citizens are not required to demonstrate English language proficiency when applying for a student visa. This exemption also applies to applicants who have completed a qualification equivalent to a UK degree in any of the listed countries.

However, no African country is included in this exemption list. Consequently, students from Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and other African nations are still mandated to provide proof of English proficiency during the visa application process, despite English being an official language in many of these countries.

This policy presents an additional documentation hurdle for African students, who constitute a significant portion of international applicants seeking to study in the UK.
