UK Police Investigate Racist Abuse of Premier League Players

The UK Football Police Unit has launched an investigation into racist abuse directed at four Premier League players, including striker Tolu Arokodare and midfielder Romain Mundal, following incidents that occurred over the past weekend. Arokodare was targeted after missing a penalty in a match against Wolverhampton, while Mundal received similar abuse after coming on as a substitute in Sunderland's 3-1 loss to Fulham.

Other players affected include Chelsea's Wesley Fofana and Burnley's Hannib Mejbri. Chief Constable Mark Roberts, head of the UK Football Police Unit, condemned the abuse, stating that there is "absolutely no place for racial abuse either online or in person." He urged those who believe they can hide behind keyboards to reconsider, emphasizing that efforts will be made to identify and prosecute offenders.

The anti-racism charity Kick It Out described the incidents as appalling and reiterated that there is no room for racism in football.
