Shehu Sani Warns Nigerians Against Joining Russian Army

On Thursday, Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, issued a warning to Nigerians and Africans against joining the Russian Army to fight in Ukraine. He emphasized that Nigerians should not allow themselves to be used as mercenaries for Russia.

Sani reminded Nigerians of the historical context, noting that Ukraine was part of the defunct Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), which was known for supporting African nations during their independence struggles. He referenced the ongoing conflict, which escalated when Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, following the annexation of Crimea in 2014.
