Umahi Reveals Compensation for Winhomes Estate Land Dispute

Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, revealed that only about 4 hectares of Winhomes Estate land were affected by the alignment of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. The developer, Winhomes Global Services Limited, was compensated with N19 million for a gatehouse demolished during the construction process.

Umahi inspected the site and mentioned that the Lagos State Government had revoked legal control of the land. The matter has escalated to court proceedings as the developer claims the property affected is worth N250 million.

Civil society activist, Comrade Declan Hekare, supported the developer's position. The issue involves diaspora investors being scammed, leading to concerns about land ownership and compensation disputes.
