Umahi Warns Against Tankers Blocking Roads, Discusses Aletu Bridge

On Tuesday, David Umahi, the Governor of Ebonyi State, issued a warning against the parking of fuel tankers on roads, highlighting the detrimental impact on national infrastructure. He noted that stationary tankers had completely blocked roads, which could lead to significant damage, as roads are not designed to bear static loads.

Umahi emphasized the need for the Ministry of Transport to ensure the protection of public infrastructure. He expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the Aletu Bridge project in Rivers State, which features concrete pavement and solar-powered lighting.

The project, which has a total cost of 230 billion Naira, is expected to be completed in phases, with the first phase due by May 25, 2026, and full delivery by August 2026. Umahi commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for sustaining funding for the project and noted the involvement of young Nigerian engineers through a mentorship program aimed at building technical capacity in the sector.
