Umahi Criticizes Tanker Drivers for Road Parking Issues

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State condemned tanker drivers for parking on the East-West road carriageway, stating that this reckless behavior could severely damage the dual carriageway, which has already incurred significant costs under President Bola Tinubu's administration. During an inspection of the road on Saturday, Umahi expressed concern over heavy-duty vehicles blocking the road, which he described as unacceptable.

He noted that the prolonged static load from these vehicles could lead to road deterioration and urged the public to refrain from parking on the road. Umahi mentioned that plans are underway to build a parking lot for heavy-duty vehicles.

He praised President Tinubu's commitment to completing the East-West road, which has faced delays, with the first phase of pavement work now expected to be completed by August 2026. The project, managed by Reynold Construction Company, is noted for its technical challenges and aims to provide durable infrastructure for the Niger Delta region.
